Semasize should be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- It is administered under the skin (subcutaneously).
- Common injection sites include the abdomen, thigh or upper arm.
- It is generally administered once weekly, on the same day each week.
- It can be taken with or without food.
- Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose and may gradually increase it depending on your response.
- Do not change the dose or frequency yourself.
- Do not share the pen with another person.
Use the pen only after receiving proper instructions on its administration.
How SEMASIZE 2MG DISPOSABLE PFP INJ 8MG/3ML works
Semaglutide mimics the action of the naturally occurring hormone GLP-1. It helps stimulate insulin release when blood glucose is elevated, reduces glucagon release, slows stomach emptying and decreases appetite. These effects help improve blood sugar control and can reduce food and calorie intake.
Safety advice
- Use only under medical supervision.
- Do not use if you are allergic to semaglutide or any ingredient in the medicine.
- Do not use in people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
- Inform your doctor if you have a history of pancreatitis.
- Tell your doctor if you have diabetic retinopathy, gallbladder disease, kidney disease or significant stomach/intestinal problems.
- The risk of low blood sugar may increase when used with insulin or sulfonylureas.
- Seek urgent medical attention for severe persistent abdominal pain, especially if it radiates to the back.
- Report severe or persistent vomiting or diarrhoea, as dehydration may affect kidney function.
- Do not use this medicine for type 1 diabetes.
- Do not share the injection pen.
